Byers Solar - Ray Byers Jr.

Ray Byers Jr. discusses the advantages of going solar in the video below.

This Earth Day, Byers is reflecting on what it means to be earth-friendly at work. One of the first words that come to mind is sustainability and the question: are our business operations ecologically sustainable? This question can be broken down into an audit of practices such as recycling, water use, food waste, fuel consumption, and energy use.

At Byers, we engage in daily recycling practices in our offices and for our construction waste. We maintain a fleet of hybrid electric vehicles for all of our sales staff, and in our solar division, we take pride in the fact that our business operations are founded on the principle and practice of advancing renewable energy.

Many of our products help clients save energy and conserve precious resources, such as our whole house fan which is generally much more energy-efficient than air conditioning, or our Solatube lighting which allows sunlight to brighten your home. Byers LeafGuard® gutters are made from 100% recycled aluminum.

At Byers Solar, we design, sell, install, and service solar electric systems for homes and businesses in northern California. In our three-and-a-half years of operation, we have installed over 1.6 megawatts of clean power. This translates to roughly 2 billion Watt-hours of renewable energy; about the equivalent of planting a 10,000-acre forest, that’s approximately every single person in Nevada County, Placer Co., Yuba, Sierra, and Butte Counties planting one tree; or the equivalent of putting the entire driving-age population of Grass Valley on bikes for one whole year!

While it may be quite a challenge to take everyone’s car away for a year or plant 850,000 trees in just a few years, it is possible to help clean up our environment by installing solar, all while saving the average homeowner about $1,500 per year off of their PG&E bill. Now that is a win-win!

Thank you for taking the time to think about Earth Day and what it can mean to your home and business. Please feel free to reach out to me personally with any questions you may have about solar.

Happy Earth Day!
